Appraiser
About the team:
At VCC, the Appraisals Team play a crucial role in accurately valuing every product that comes through our doors. As the first point of contact with our valued customers goods, we carefully assess each box to ensure that we can provide a fair offer to every customer. We're proud to be the engine room of VCC, providing the stock that fuels all the other departments. We’re a fantastic team of around 30 people, and we have people working from ‘trainee’ to ‘Senior’ appraiser level.
About the role:
As an appraiser, you will appraise customers' items on a daily basis, collaborating with specialists and your team leader to assist you in making informed decisions. You will work independently as part of a larger appraisal team, striving to meet and exceed KPI targets. You will receive ongoing training and development throughout your day-to-day duties and from specialists. As an appraiser, you will always be learning, as anything could come through in a customer's box, and you will see things you have never seen before, even after years of experience.
Key goals and objectives:

Accurately appraise 25-30 customer boxes every day.
Ensure a quality control rate of at least 95% with no major errors, supported by routine audits from your team lead.
Manage and maintain box acceptance rate, in line with the department's key performance indicators (KPIs).
In your first three months you will:
Learn how to appraise a diverse range of vintage and antique items.
Receive and engage in training on a large range of product categories.
Collaborate closely with your team leader and others across the team to support your learning and growth.
Appraise 23-25 boxes per day.
Attend regular one-to-one meetings with your team leader to discuss your progress and key performance indicators (KPIs).
In your first six months you will:
Become an established member of the team, improving on your first three months' performance.
Develop more in-depth knowledge of various categories.
Maintain a quality control rate (QC%) of 95%+.
Keep accept rate in line with department KPIs.
Key responsibilities:
Accurately, carefully, and efficiently appraise customers' items.
Keep the work environment clean and tidy.
Be open to changes in processes or environments and embrace them, bringing any new ideas to your Team Lead to improve the working environment and efficiency.
Inform your manager immediately if you notice any health and safety concerns.
Take advantage of self-learning opportunities and those provided to you.
Essential skills and experience:
Enthusiastic about vintage and antique products.
Displays meticulous attention to detail.
Proficient in accurate data entry.
Exhibits strong multitasking abilities.
Communicates effectively with diverse teams and departments.
Adapts well to changes in the work environment.
Values continuous learning.
Exhibits punctuality and reliability.

About Vintage Cash Cow
There's an elephant in the boardroom. The unchecked consumption, constant growth and focus on 'buying new' is not an option in tomorrow's market. Companies around the world must stop their reliance on finite resources that can't keep coming out of the ground. Changing consumer behaviour is demanding companies change; less new, fewer short-life items, more reCommerce, more reuse, and more recycling. The cost-of-living crisis is catalysing and accelerating this change; it's simply cheaper to do the right thing.
You'll know that buying and selling old and vintage items isn't easy for most people, so we've set out to change that. Vintage Cash Cow is on a mission to become the leading brand for buying and selling all things vintage, valuable, and occasionally peculiar. By delivering unrivalled convenience and care with our fair, trustworthy and personal service, we believe we can own this space in the UK and overseas.
We aren't doing this entirely alone. We've raised VC investment from Dutch Founders Fund and Airbridge Equity Partners, including from the founders of WeTransfer, Just Eat Benelux and TreatWell. With their support and our unwavering commitment to changing the game for good globally, this role is an exciting opportunity to join a brand primed for lift-off.
